This painting was inspired by the theme, “The Nature of Things", as it reflects on the nature of humans and how events like pollution, littering, and overfishing can in fact destroy the beauty of nature. I believe it is very important as artists to create pieces based on real world events and show how they affect us, as well as demonstrating it in a beautiful and interesting way to attract attention to these subjects. For these reasons, I chose to create a multi-media painting with 3-D objects to attract the viewer, as well as emphasizing bright colors, different textures, and attention to detail with oil paint. I hope this painting will make the viewer reflect on the impact humans have on nature, but also enjoy the components and detail I have put into this piece.
