My artwork represents the “Nature of Things” theme through using an invasive species in North America, goldfish, to both represent the impact of human actions, and underlying issues. At first glance, this goldfish might seem in place and peaceful, but it may not be. We’re in Canada, and here, the goldfish is an invasive species. The impact of a goldfish invading North American waters is detrimental to the ecosystems, as it's not meant to be there. Unbeknownst to it, it has a large impact on the ecosystem it is in. Everything and everyone has an impact on the world around us, whether aware of it or not. That impact shapes the world around us, and as perspectives change, the impact changes as well.
