This project is a surrealist self portrait which looked at emotions over the course of the pandemic. Through use of a cracked mirror image and three expressions, I combined and cut areas of my face within the glass shards to demonstrate the extreme range of emotions I had felt over the pandemic. I utilized a black and white filter on my photos to show hurt and despair, while keeping the cracked mirror in a clean box as a reference to hiding emotions and pretending to be okay. Being isolated without in-person contact for months took an extreme toll on many, and was personally one of my largest struggles over the course of the pandemic; one of which I have tried my hardest to shut out of my mind.
